Even though I honestly consider myself a Final Fantasy fan, all the points you make are quite accurate. And, yeah, though I loved FFVII, FFX, and FFX-2, I rather hate FFVIII and FFXII (As for FFIX, the jury's out. I like it somewhat, but I never could really get into it, either, you know

And I STILL don't understand how a fucking Gunblade is supposed to work! I mean, what, it combines swords and guns in the most unrealistic manner, I seriously don't see how you can wield it without injuring yourself. Hey, Square-Enix, Issac Newton's Third Law called, wondering if you ever heard of it? Also, last I checked, there's this little thing called CONSERVATION OF MOMENTUM!!! It's like freaking sword-chucks (of 8-bit theatre infamy), except even worse since presumably intelligent game developers came up with it, rather than a clinically retarded Fighter.
Even so, though, I do love Ultimecia
