Dark Sun- Athas Map by WhoDrewThis Dark Sun- Athas Map by WhoDrewThis
Map I whipped up for my Magical Girl Dark Sun game. I'm damned proud of this one. Would you believe it's my first real stab at colored, hex-grid mappery?

I sure wouldn't. :D

WAY larger version (a little smaller than a full page) on my compy; I'll be file-swapping once I've got access to a faster connection.

Dark Sun is (c) Wizards of the Coast.

EDIT: The big-ass Dark Sun map's up!

This looks like you lightly colored the map from the boxed set...so if you didn't, this looks REALLY FREAKING AWESOME.
Hopefully, when I make the map for my DS campaign, I'll be able to make a map at least half as good as this one... wish me luck!

You have a map that incorporates Kern, and by extension New Kern?

Thanks! It's an early example of my map art, but it still holds a special place in my heart.

A dry, desolate, kill-or-be-killed place. :P

Well, thank you so much! I've been working on upping my map skills since then, but this one is close to my heart.

As a long-time fan of the original 2nd ed. AD&D Dark Sun, I can really appreciate this beatiful map (I'm a fan of maps in general). You did an amazing job

When TSR put out the revised box set, they included the coolest gaming prop EVER: it was the map of this region, but printed on cloth. Sooo glad I still have it in my collection :D

Oh, yeah, I heard about that cloth map. I had a friend with the boxed set. I wonder if he's still got it.

While this isn't exactly the style I'd have chosen for a Dark Sun map, this is still very well done.

Thank you! I'm still new to maps, so I hope they only get better from here on out.

Photoshop CS 4. It's all I've got, digital-art-wise, and I use it in everything from characters to comics to paper minis to maps to crude doodles.

I do love it so. :D

This is useful actually. I don't want to take my map out of my 4E book.

Do you have a collection of info on your Dark Sun Magical Girl game?

Well, I'm hoping to have my 9" x 6" version up some time, so it'll be easy to print out and use at leisure. No book-mangling necessary. :D

I'll be arranging all the info sometime soon; still working out all the details. I'll let folks know when it's up.

I'm VERY proud of this map. A bit more practice and I might be able to go pro with them.

I hope. :D

World of Dark Sun's an interesting place, I'll agree to that. Plains of salt, seas of dust, boiling heat, and mad wizards turned into dragons... it's a mighty fine place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. :P

nothing mad about breaking magic and psionics past their limits to bring about an apotheosis of power, turning ones self into the embodiment of power... a dragon.

now the cannibalistic Halflings... scary.

Heh. I love those halflings. :D

No one's gonna call them puny weaklings. 'Specially when they are eating your buddy in a cook-pot.

don't ask where the halfling chef get his prime meat. Thri-kreen are good for the same thing.

the trick is knowing is where the half-giants live!
